HUGE VICTORY!!!

Today was a big meeting at the Learning Coop regarding Matthew's Individual Education Plan (IEP). We started at 8:30 this morning, and didnt end until 4:30 this afternoon. There were 20 or so people there on his team. One of the main things we accomplished was:
1. The type of discipline-has to be immediate, age appropriate (for him is 3-4 years old even though he is 10)
2. He now has a full time para installed JUST FOR HIM-no more part time shared para! This is HUGE!!!
3. Plenty of inscentives and reinforcers
4. Sensory breaks and transition breaks
5. NO MORE ART-he hates art class, instead he will be doing other things more worthy of his time (social stories, sensory issues, he will have a job in the 5th grade, either working in the library or office helping).

There are more things this day produced but these are the basics.

I have to say that I am SO THANKFUL for Leah who is acting as Matthew's IEP Advocate. She has accomplished so much for Matthew! I am so excited for this Ziggurate Model that has been implemented for him!!! WAHOO, what an accomplishment!!!

I'm Baaack!!!

I think I am finally coming out of my funk. Just over a month ago, my anxiety problems became quite severe in reaction to dealing with a situation with one of our children. It all hit me very hard, and it was so strange, my reaction. It nearly debilitated me, emotionally. It was very hard to see the end, and things were so unsure at that time. Slowly things have been falling back into place and we are moving past it. I *think* I now have a handle on my anxiety problem (with the help of Celexa).

Yesterday I had to do a lot of convincing myself to get back into an exercise routine. I know that I ALWAYS feel better after I do a good work out. So I planned on going today after my first class. I planned on staying and working out for 20-30 minutes, ignoring the bike because it really aggravates my knee.

I woke up this morning and had to do a LOT of positive self talk because I was really trying to talk myself out of going. I know better, too because the more I *think* about things, the harder it is to get past it. So, I try to NOT *think* about it and just *do* it. So, I just *did* it (with the help of my IPOD). I went, got all stinky and sweaty and worked out for 20 minutes on the tread mill, 10 in that weird elliptical machine, 10 minutes ON THE BIKE (I will pay for that later, for sure) and then another 10 minutes on the elliptical machine. All in all, I did a hefty 50 minute work out.

My legs are numb, my endorphins are high and wild, and I don't regret the work out. I feel fantastic.....tomorrow I might be telling you a different story when I cant raise my legs off the bed....

Now, where is my book? I am on the third book of *Twilight* (Eclipse). I am so into these books...

More little GiRLiEs...

Bethanie and Madison had two little girl friends over today. (Madison a.k.a. Big Madison (L), Bethanie, Kaylee and Madison a.k.a. Little Madison (R), are all here pictured as they are playing dress up! These two little girls are moving today to New Mexico. They have had a lot of struggles since Christmas. Their house burned to the ground and they lost everything, Christmas gifts included. So, for today, their last day here, while their family is packing up for the drive, they are here with us, having fun. I sure will miss these two sweet little girls. I have grown very fond of them. I know my girls have as well. It doesn't help the move that it snowed some last night. We were lucky though, we only got a skiff, when an hour south of us had a foot.

SpRiNg In KaNsAs...

I think we have been royally spoiled! The weather has been very mild, and we have had little moisture. Today it turned BITTERLY cold outside! No one wants to be out there. The wind is blowing, it is barely above freezing and I am sure there must be a windchill! The GOOD news is everything outside is getting GREEN again! I love seeing the color come back into everything. Bethanie wanted to wear a skirt to school today. Nope! Too cold! Madison made sure she put her gloves on with her heavy coat. Cant say I blame her! I have to go back out in it. I am just about to head off to my last class for the week and then pick up the kidlets from school. OY! I don't want to. I want to stay all cuddled up to my chair and blanket. I am reading the Stephanie Meyer books again (tWiLiGhT sErIes) again. I am just as addicted to them as I was the first time. This week I have read book one, watched the movie and am half way through NEW MOON. **sigh** it is good to enjoy a good book...series...

Little Girlie...

FINALLY, I have waited a long time to be able to french braid or do SOMETHING with Madison's hair! Lookie! YAY!!!! She LOVES it! I think she is as excited as I am by it! Mind you, I did this with NO comb, and a very wiggly two year old. Next time I will be prepared better.

I tHiNk It'S lOvE...

My dad came over today and I was working on his computer, showing him how to use one of his programs. Madison (a.k.a. Butter Bean) was totally a grandpa's girl. She is shown here in the process of giving "Pappa" a kiss. She just sat on his lap and wanted nothing more of the day, except to be with him. She CRIED when he had to leave for his class.

No MoRe DuSt...

I am so proud of me! I dusted 90% of my house, I mopped my floors and I can feel like I dont live in the dustbowl! I can not believe the amount of dust that was just from yesterday alone! Everything had a coating of it.

Tomorrow...I think I will decorate for Easter, since my house is so clean!

tHaT wInDy DaY aGaIn...

So apparently, the middle school roof started to blow off today because the wind was so bad. The 5th & 6th graders had to go to the Elementary school that my kids go to. This is the school that I used to be the school secretary at. Skerry stuff! It has been so windy here, like 60-65 mph all day long.

Gasp! I feel like I have all this dirt in my throat! There is a layer of dust everywhere in my house....but it does no good do clean it up until this wind is over... **sighs**

WiNdY dAy...

It is sooooooo windy outside today! My first class was cancelled, so I went to the store to order some pictures of the kids. I was walking into the store, a gust of wind blew and blew one of my legs in front of the other. I tripped over my own leg. How does this happen??? It takes a lot to move this girl, but come on!

BeThAnIe & BaKiNg...

When the guys are off to Cub scouts, she is always wanting to bake...it doesnt matter what. It is a pitfall to me because my philosophy is that if it isnt in the house, I wont eat it...if it is here, I WILL eat it. So this is what we made tonight....visit Ladysam's Recipe Box here!

SiLLy GirLiEs...

Bethanie sits at the table in Madisons chair (Madison calls it her BABY SEAT) coloring. So Madison is rather posessive and climbs in behind her. She loves her Sissy so much that she has to give her a hug! So I snapped this picture and....

They both strike a pose. What hams I am raising.

ChUrCh ToDaY...

Today was a great day at Church. Usually it is. My dad got up and gave a talk for the first time EVER! He talked about Forgiveness, both sides of it. It was wonderful! More than that, it was really nice to see him getting up the nerve to DO this! It was a huge step for him! I am proud of him and think he did a really great job! The other talk was from a friend of ours. He talked about food storage and being prepared. I really enjoyed his talk as well. We have been working on our food storage. Our first goal is to get to where we have a 3 month supply for the five of us. Then we will build it for a 6 month supply. We bought some shelving a couple of months back and have cleared cabinet space in our laundry room just for our food storage. It crowds that room because it is small, but it is a daily reminder to me of what our goal is with this because when I go in there to do laundry, I cant help but see the storage of water and food/non perishables in there.

Tomato Plants

We are also planning our garden. I am anxious to get the ground tilled so we can start. My husband is dragging his feet on it, but it is GOING to be done. :O) My parents picked up about 8 tomato plants for us the other day and planted some green peppers so they can start and then re-plant them when it is time. Other things we will be planting....
  • zucchini

  • green beans

  • cucumbers (we LOVE making sweet pickles and canning them)

  • tomatoes (as mentioned)

  • green beans (as mentioned)

Seeds from Church

And I received a whole package of seeds from Church today with various seeds in it, I have yet to see what is all there so there might be more. Right now our garden space is very small, so some of it is going to be container gardening. A friend of mine grows fresh herbs in one large container. I need to see how to do that, and how to use them!

Anyway, are you bored yet? Bethanie and I are now going to go in and make some chocolate muffins while the boys are at cub scouts.

dAiLy CaRtOoN...

Did you know that I have a daily "family" cartoon on the sidebar of my blog? They are really cute. Check it out sometime!

tWiLiGhT...

Awe.....I just finished watching tWiLiGhT with my husband. I have to say, I had my doubts about the movie, but I really actually LOVED it! I cant wait to see NeW MoOn though. I have to go back to re-read tWiLiGhT though. I read the entire series in 12 days during finals last semester and so I cant remember where one book ended and one book began! But I loved the movie . So, on it goes for my mom to borrow (give it back soon, I have to watch it over and over now!!!). Anyway, it was worth the wait, and I am so glad I didn't have to wait another day!

One thing was, Edward had this weird hair going on. I totally didnt picture him with this style. I loved him with Bella. Alice seemed a little dingie but I am excited to see her and Bella become closer. Rosalie has serious issues. LOL! I doubt if I were Charlie, that I would let my 17 year old daughter leave to drive cross country in that state of mind...but thats all for another day. I need to go to bed.

Just me...

I decided to have a picture snapped of me while we were at
Sears . It is truly nothing special. But it's me! :O)

Pictures are worth a thousand words...

I cheated this year. I decided that instead of taking all the kids in separate for their birthday pictures, I went somewhere in the middle. Today was that day. I know, this is the face of insanity...however, we survived, and now I am going to force you into viewing pictures of my children...
Here is my sweet Matthew. He is TEN already! Where has the time gone? He got to pick out his new glasses this time around. He really loves them. I think they look really nice on him!
Matthew loves playing his Nintendo DS, playing the WII and playing on the computer. He is a whiz at reading and math. I am proud of him and his accomplishments in school. He is a good son, and I know that he was meant to be in our family. I love my Matthew!!!

This is my beautiful Bethanie. She is a beauty on the outside, but on the inside, her beauty cant be measured. She has a heart of gold. She would do anything for anyone if she thought they would feel good about it! She is so kind and loving. I just love being around her because she makes me feel so good! I am so blessed to have her as my daughter! These are her 7 year old pictures.
This is Miss Madison! She is TWO and don't you forget it! We really had a hard time getting any worthwhile pictures of her today. She just did NOT want to be a part of it. But we did get some. Madison has mixed qualities. She is so much like her sister, she even sounds like her! But she is outgoing like her brother. Madison is so polite and loving...but she is also bull-headed! I guess that goes with the age, some. I am sure she inherited some of it too! I love her though and I am so glad to have her as my daughter! I love being a mommy to all of my children.

Oldest and Youngest

The oldest two...

My sweet girlies!

This is my pride and JOY. I love these little kids so much! Just look at those sweet faces!!!

All in all, I am so thankful that we are finished with pictures for another year. It is hard to get everyone together, happy, no spills on the clothes, no tears...it is just a lot of work. I never regret it in the end. I love having these memories to look back on, and I never think about the bad stuff...I seem to only remember the good.....which is how I prefer it!

The ThInG about SpRiNg BrEaK is...

No matter how you look at it...it is a preCURSOR of summer. A look ahead of what is to come.....
OK, some might say, "What a bad attitude you have!" But I have been single parenting this SpRiNg BrEaK and it stinks. My children are so off their rockers at this point I want to bury my head in a hole until September. In our house, serious structure is required because we also live with Asperger's. Things like SpRiNg BrEaK tend to aggravate the condition, therefore complicates even the best of relationships. My poor house....I have given up trying to keep it clean at this point. I don't have the energy to fight the non structure and the toys. The donuts on the floor have to go, so out comes the vacuum. **sighs** if my husband were home, even for a little while-things would not be so hard.....Millions of moms for sure would agree to that. However, sometimes they are worse than the children!

BrEaK!!!

And no, I don't mean SpRiNg BrEaK! I was carrying a load of laundry upstairs (no basket) and when I got to the top of the stairs, Madison decided she wanted to play with a doll house right at the top. I didn't know this, so since I could not see over the heap of laundry, I KiCkEd the house. The whole tip of my poor toe is black and blue! I seriously thought I broke my big toe. I feel it back in the joints of that toe. It is throbbing and keeping me awake! So off to get some unisom to help me out of my misery. I hope tomorrow it feels better! This stinks! I think this should mean I cant do the laundry any more. It must be bad for my health. *GrIn*

FaMiLy...

As for most people, it isn't so different for me. FAMILY is one of THE MOST important things in my life. So, I collect things that say "FAMILY". A couple of weeks ago, there was an HFPE and I was really excited to go! The Stake RS Presidency was coming to present a message about FAMILY. YAY! Finally it fell on a night when my husband would be home, and I was planning to attend. Lo' and behold...Miss Bethanie ended up having a dance performance that night, and I was only able to come for a short time. I had to leave early to get her dressed and ready to go to the performance (and then watch her!!!). One of the things planned at HFPE was they made these sweet blocks of wood with letters that eventually spelled out FAMILY. I didn't get a set because I had to leave early. I was so sad, because this is one of the things I collect. Just look around my house and you will see FAMILY written all over it! So, my dad, the sweet thing...got me some blocks of wood, the same size, sanded them down for me and gave me them to paint up. So I did! I used the colors of paint from our inside of the house, so it is a perfect match! Aren't they pretty? I am so weird, I know...

SpRiNg BrEaK!

The first day of Spring Break is GORGEOUS!!! I wish my sweet husband isn't wasting away at work! The girlers cant stay inside for anything! Matthew is not too out-doorsy in anyway, but he has been out a time or two! He got new glasses the other day. This was the first time he was allowed to CHOOSE his own frames. He really loves them. I will eventually get used to them. He has never had anything other than wire. There was no way to convince him that he could have any other pair than the pair he is wearing. He is the one that has to wear them. I am getting used to them though. I am not sure how long these will hold up. When he gets upset, he likes to punish his glasses for some reason...he is such a boy.
I still have yet to accomplish anything on my list of things to do for SpRiNg BrEaK. I did take the kids though, to go visit my parents this morning! That was fun. Our sweetest niece, Heather was there too! Oh, by the way... SHE HAS A BOYFRIEND (finally, sheesh!)

Bethie's New "DO"...

I have tried many many times to get this to work in her hair. Simple, you say? Not so, my dear one! She has very long (though very fine) hair. It NEVER does what it is supposed to do! Finally I figured a way to do it and get it to stay. She LOVES wearing her hair like this now! When you take it out of the bun, it is very curly, which she loves even as much! Awe, little girlers!!!

Homework & Spring Break...

HOMEWORK...
Gosh, it hardly sounds like those two words should be in the same title together! I only have a little bit of homework to do before I go back to school after Spring Break. But last night I was trying to help my husband get some of his homework finished. He is taking 3 online courses. he is going to be graduating in May with his BSN degree. But one of the very time consuming things he has to do is to do the work, and THEN enter it onto the computer to submit for grades. I spent THREE hours last night just entering his data. I am still not finished. I will finish it up for him today. The good news from this is, once I have it all entered, this class with be finished and then he will only have two to focus on. What a relief for him! I am glad I can help him. It is very tedious work and time consuming, but it shaved tons of time off of his hectic schedule.

SPRING BREAK...
I have many goals...but also the kids. Lets see what gets accomplished!
I plan to rake some of the yard and garden area. It is going to be VERY nice for Spring Break which is rather unusual. Usually it is rainy and icky, but it is going to be in the 70's-low 80's. WOW! Lets see, another project I want to do is finish up the painting in our newly remodeled bathroom. And then I want to attack our hall way because it is ugly and needs attention in a B A D way! Homework is a must, though only a slight amount. We are having pictures taken of the kids, and doctor appointments.

How many of these goals do YOU think I can get accomplished?

JOY...

I decided that I need MORE reminders in my life of things that bring me *JOY*. I found this precious rock at a store today that says *JOY* and thought immediately about my blog. I know, I am such an addict! So I thought I would start a daily *joy* segment. Each day, I will write something that has brought me *joy* so far for that day! It will be located on my sidebar! Check it out!

Grade results are in...

I got a 92% on my midterm for English Comp. II.
Also, on my essay titled, "The Darkness In Gretel", I got an A. He LOVED my paper. There was another student in the class that chose the same poem and he got a C. My instructor told me I should let him see my paper so he could get some ideas on how to improve his. He has to re-do his paper. He had already left though, so I couldn't.

What a relief. I am so glad to finally know.

Also, I did get an A on my midterm for Human Growth & Development.

I don't know why this is so important to me. I want to do my best. I wish I could just slack off a little bit so that the pressure isn't so hard, but I probably wont regret it somewhere down the road.

The Invisible Mother...

My mom sent this to me...She knows sometimes I feel invisible. I know that she has been there, herself...still is most of the time. But I have struggled with this at Church lately, at the children's school, at my own school. This made me feel so much better about things...

Invisible Mother.....

It all began to make sense, the blank stares, the lack of response, the way one of the kids will walk into the room while I'm on the phone and ask to be taken to the store. Inside I'm thinking, 'Can't you see I'm on the phone?' Obviously not; no one can see if I'm on the phone, or cooking, or sweeping the floor, or even standing on my head in the corner, because no one can see me at all. I'm invisible. The invisible Mom. Some days I am only a pair of hands, nothing more! Can you fix this? Can you tie this? Can you open this?? Some days I'm not a pair of hands; I'm not even a human being. I'm a clock to ask, 'What time is it?'
I'm a satellite guide to answer, 'What number is the Disney Channel?' I'm a car to order, 'Right around 5:30, please.' I was certain that these were the hands that once held books and the eyes that studied history and the mind that graduated summa cum laude -but now, they had disappeared into the peanut butter, never to be seen again.
She's going, she's going, she's gone!? One night, a group of us were having dinner, celebrating the return of a friend from England . Janice had just gotten back from a fabulous trip, and she was going on and on about the hotel she stayed in. I was sitting there, looking around at the others all put together so well. It was hard not to compare and feel sorry for myself. I was feeling pretty pathetic, when Janice turned to me with a beautifully wrapped package, and said, 'I brought you this.' It was a book on the great cathedrals of Europe . I wasn't exactly sure why she'd given it t o me until I read her inscription: 'To Charlotte , with admiration for the greatness of what you are building when no one sees.' In the days ahead I would read - no, devour - the book. And I would discover what would become for me, four life-changing truths, after which I could pattern my work: No one can say who built the great cathedrals - we have no record of their names. These builders gave their whole lives for a work they would never see finished. They made great sacrifices and expected no credit. The passion of their building was fueled by their faith that the eyes of God saw everything. A legendary story in the book told of a rich man who came to visit the cathedral while it was being built, and he saw a workman carving a tiny bird on the inside of a beam. He was puzzled and asked the man, 'Why are you spending so much time carving that bird into a beam that will be covered by the roof, No one will ever see it. And the workman replied, 'Because God sees.' I closed the book, feeling the missing piece fall into place. It was almost as if I heard God whispering to me, 'I see you, Charlotte. I see the sacrifices you make every day, even when no one around you does. No act of kindness you've done, no sequin you've sewn on, no cupcake you've baked, is too small for me to notice
and smile over. You are building a great cathedral, but you can't see right now what it will become. At times, my invisibility feels like an affliction. But it is not a disease that is erasing my life. It is the cure for the disease of my own self-centeredness. It is the antidote to my strong, stubborn pride. I keep the right perspective when I see myself as a great builder. As one of the people who show up at a job that they will never see finished, to work on something that their name will never be on. The writer of the book went so far as to say that no cathedrals could ever be built in our lifetime because there are so few people willing to sacrifice to that degree. When I really think about it, I don't want my son to tell the friend he's bringing home from college for Thanksgiving, 'My Mom gets up at 4 in the morning and bakes homemade pies, and then she hand bastes a turkey for 3 hours and presses all the linens for the table.' That would mean I'd built a shrine or a monument to myself. I just want him to want to come home. And then, if there is anything more to say to his friend, to add, 'You're gonna love it there.' As mothers, we are building great cathedrals. We cannot be seen if we're doing it right. And one day, it is very possible that the world will marvel, not only at what we have built, but at the beauty that has been added to the world by the sacrifices of invisible women.

WaCkY WeDnEsDaY...

OY! Wednesdays are always a challenge. But today was VERY interesting! My day started off with very little sleep last night. My brain was all fired up because I was up late studying and working on the IEP meeting that was set for today for one of our children.

I went in at 9 this morning and took my Midterm exam for English Comp. II. There were about 104 points possible. I felt confident about all of the questions except for three. I didn't answer two of them and they were valued at 2 points each. So I know I missed 4 points there. There was another question I didn't know as well, but guessed on an answer. It was also worth 2 points. So, I know I missed 6 points. The rest I think was OK. I think if I missed 10 points on the test, I would still get an A. So, I guess in the next day or so I will find out what my test scored at. I am also waiting to see what my paper scored too. It was an essay I wrote titled "The Darkness in Gretel". If you are interested in reading it, email me! I would be happy to send it to you!

So I finished with the exam, and got home just in time for my parents to come over and stake claim on our littlest child. They were taking her home with them for a few hours while we went to the IEP meeting. The IEP Advocate came at this time and we discussed some of the things we were to go over with the meeting. Madison did NOT want to leave home today, so she threw a fit. I felt terrible! I have been sending her away so much lately. Since the difficult events that happened a couple weeks ago, things have become very complicated and my attention is on other things right now. She is feeling it, unfortunately. And so am I.

So, the IEP meeting was amazing. I will blog about it on the BROTHER BLOG. Check it out to see what happened.

The IEP meeting took up so much time that I ended up missing my last class for the day. We went to pick up Madison and then went straight to the school to wait for the kiddos to come out. We were there 20 minutes early and we both fell asleep in the van while waiting...Jeff snored. :O) Madison was asleep too, so it was quiet. I woke up just before the kids came out. So we rushed home, got Bethanie ready for dance class, and Jeff took her while I hurried up and fixed supper and gave the other two kids baths. We ate supper quickly, gave Bethanie her bath and then went to the school for Bethanie's parent teacher conference. It went very well. She is getting along quite well with her work, and I am so glad! So after that, we got ice cream and came home, got them to bed and now I am so ready to crash! I have home work and just don't have the energy to get it all done tonight!

1:00 A.M. ...

Just shoot me. I have been studying my tuckus off, and dealing with this massive IEP meeting we have to do today (Wednesday) for one of our children. I will be so glad to have this one under our belt. Also, my midterm, dance class, and a parent teacher conference. All of these things are piled into ONE DAY. So much brain power. My mind is all fired up and it is 1 a.m. and I really need to be in bed! Unisom, here I come!!!

TWILIGHT...

is coming out on DVD on March 21st!!! You know where I am going on that day? Hmmmm? I didn't get to see it in the theatre because my husband and I couldn't find time off together to go...so, needless to say, the wait has been painful and I cant wait to see it!!!

MIDTERM...

Wednesday morning is my English Comp. II midterm. I am nervous, to say the least. There are 56 terms to know, plus we have to identify four of this, three of that, define and pick out different things from examples. There is so much to remember. I had no luck with my traditional study guide format that I use so I made 60 flash cards to help me study. I bet you wish you were me, huh?

Camping re-visited...

SHE STAYED ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

Let me back up a bit. They couldn't walk to the college to do the star gazing they wanted to because it was cloudy, and bitterly cold. It was also misting. It was soooooooo cold! So instead they walked to the bowling alley which was maybe a half a mile away. It was 8:00 P.M. when I put Miss Madison down to sleep. While I was doing that, I was thinking, Sheesh, last night it thunder stormed and the kids were terrified, I am so glad we don't have to do that tonight, then BOOM. It started to thunder. OY! Amazingly enough, Madison remained unaffected. So I got to thinking about those poor little scouts and sisters walking in the rain. I called my husband and told them of the nasty sharp lightening and thunder and that he needed to get some cars together to come pick up the kids because they cant walk out in that. He was amazed it was storming outside. I mean, they were in a bowling alley of all places, how could they, right???

So they got them all back safe to the armory. Twice after that, Bethanie called me to talk. I loved that! I knew she missed me, and I knew that she was thinking of me. It made me feel SO LOVED! She is like that, ya know? 9:30 was the last time she called me, to tell me good night. They were in their tent by 10:00 and other kids were all still running around. When morning came, Bethanie was shocked because she thought that she had just fallen asleep. She was exhausted. So was Matthew, though. He tried to fall asleep in Sacrament Meeting today!!! So after church, we all came home, ate and napped. :O)

Camping...

It is still a little cold outside, so they are camping out at the armory. They have tents set up inside and an obstacle course. When I was there visiting...

Jeff (r) and Les (l) were making some potato soup-stew stuff. Jeff was making his pineapple upside down cake stuff (delicious).

Bethanie has decided to stay and camp out with her dad and brother. This will be her first night away camping. It is on a hard cement floor, so I put in a toddler mattress for her to sleep on. :O) I am betting she doesn't end up staying the whole night.

All the kids were having a blast. There were balls and Frisbee's flying everywhere. Madison wanted to stay and play some more, but I was afraid she was going to get hit by something. It was a fun thing to visit them. The kids are only a mile or so from home. We will see if everyone stays gone all night. LOL!

I just realized...

It has been several days since I have blogged. Nothing special is going on (thankfully). The boys are going camping this afternoon for scouts. It will be a girls day! WAHOO!!! First I have to do some painting in the bathroom, then we are going to do manicures and pedicures when the guys leave.

Accomplishments...

Today, Bethie-Beth brought home an award! She met her AR goal! AR=Accelerated Reader. Basically, when students read a book, they take tests on the book(s) they have read. It is all computerized. She met her first milestone of 25 points! WAY TO GO BETHIE!!! This is the same kid who could not read through Kindergarten and we worried we would retain her another year! She is now in the middle of her class! WAHOO!! It finally clicked! It is funny because now I see her sneak reading in her bed when she is supposed to be trying to go to sleep!

She had a blast showing off her earrings today!

Another thing, its pretty minor. I got the results of my 1st Midterm test today. It is for Human Growth and Development. I had a minor panic attack during the test. It was 45 questions, and 85-90% were short answer/essay questions that had things like list four of this and explain. This test was so lengthy and I simply didn't know some of the answers. I missed 4 class days because of some personal junk going on. I knew that after the test, I missed at least 5 questions because I just didn't know. I did some figuring and found that if I missed 5, that would be a 90% = A. I missed THREE. I got a 420/450. I was shocked. I thought I did much worse than that. The pressure is off for this. I am so glad to know now! My next midterm exam is next Wednesday (English Comp. II).

Second Chances...

When Bethie was 3, she HOUNDED me to let her get her ears pierced. So we finally gave in. After they pierced her first ear, she wouldn't let us do the other. So we ran around town and did some things and came back a few hours later and finally got it done. A year went by with constant struggles with her, because she didn't ever want us to clean them. Naturally infection took over and we eventually had to take out the earrings.
Today, she finally decided on her own that she was ready to revisit the earring situation. She was able to get one earring in on one ear. Not so lucky on the other. So we went to the store, and had the other ear pierced. She was scared to death, and she cried. Look at her face in this picture! Isnt it just heart breaking? It has been a few hours since then, and you would never see a happier girler around. She cant WAIT to get to school tomorrow to show off her new earrings! She is so happy and delighted! YAY BETHANIE!!!
Now, I have plans to sit on her to clean them daily. :O)

Something Special...

Vist the BROTHER BLOG to see something special!!!

Sleepless in Seattle...

OK, I am NOT in Seattle, but I am sleepless. I think the events of the past couple of weeks have disturbed me so much and it is affecting my sleep. I am truly exhausted, I want to sleep. I lay down to sleep and I am plenty tired, but my mind is really on, going so fast, thinking about everything from this business with my child, to shopping lists, to school work, tests, house hold things needing to be done. I am sure that my anxiety is to blame and I cant settle all of this down! It is nearly 1 am. I have a class first thing in the morning, and a midterm later in the day. I WANT TO SLEEP! I KNOW I will be exhausted tomorrow. Why am I awake right now? Grrrr. For the last two nights I have been waking up during the night from a sound sleep. When I wake up, instantly I start to think. I hate that. When I start to think, I cant shut it off. It isn't like the events of the past couple of weeks are life altering, they have been stressful, yes, but what is the deal? Why cant I let it go?

OK, enough of the sleep deprived ramblings of a woman who is possibly having a midlife crisis. :O)

MIDTERM already...

Now that I am down to only two classes, it doesn't seem like such a big deal. I only have two tests to worry about. My first one is Monday afternoon. It is for my Human Growth & Development class. It isn't too hard, it is really basic stuff, but it is A LOT of stuff to know. So, we will see. I think my next MIDTERM is going to be next week sometime. That will be English Comp. II. I think this one will be the more challenging of the two.

Our Mad House...

The girls LOVE playing "Get Down" or "Chase" with their dad. It is one of their favorite things to play, when daddy is home. Matthew doesn't like it so much, because it is highly stimulating to his senses, but he will play once in a while.

This is typical in our house on the evenings when Daddy is home. I know that one day, this will be one of their favorite memories of home!
